We've done our best to answer some of the most popular questions about chiropractors in Battle Creek

Does insurance cover your chiropractic care?

Since insurance coverage is constantly changing we check your benefits on your first visit. That way we can determine exactly what your policy covers. It has been our experience that most policies include chiropractic benefits.

Typically a policy will allow a certain number of treatments per person, per year or a certain dollar amount for chiropractic care per person, each benefit year. If you have a Health Savings Account, those dollars can also be used for chiropractic care.

What about deductibles and co-pays?

Your annual deductible also varies by plan.

This is the amount determined by your contract that must be met “out of pocket” before insurance coverage begins each year. for instance; if you have a $300.00 deductible, we bill your insurance but we know that insurance will not send a payment until you have accumulated the first $300.00 in medical expenses each benefit year.

Your copay is different than your deductible and is the portion of each visit that is not paid by insurance. Most contracts now use a flat dollar copay instead of a percentage. If you have a $20.00 copay and we bill your insurance $44.00 they would pay the remaining $24.00.

What does it mean when we participate with your insurance?

If we are participating providers with any insurance it means that we have agreed to accept the “allowed fee” or contracted fee that they have established. This is a reduced fee and we are obligated to accept that amount.

We currently participate with Medicare, Cofinity Health Plans, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare Advantage, United HealthCare, Aetna, Healthscope, Cigna & Blue Care Network. If your plan is not listed please call to see if we participate.

What if I don’t have insurance?

Normally payment is expected at the time services are rendered, however, we know that medical bills are sometimes unexpected.

With that in mind, we want you to know that financial arrangements can always be made that will allow you the care you need when you need it. Each case is different and you will normally be asked to bring a payment on your first visit. At that time and once the doctor has determined what treatment you need, we will discuss financial arrangements.

We also accept VISA, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.

What about Worker’s Compensation and Auto claims?

Both types of claims are accepted.

We need the claim number and date of injury. For worker’s comp. please make sure you have reported the claim to your employer and filed the appropriate paperwork. In the case of an auto injury, please make sure you have contacted your adjuster and informed them that you are seeking medical care for your injuries.

In both cases, you have the right to receive treatment for your injuries. We will assist you with the necessary forms after your initial visit and verification of your claim.

Can I see a chiropractor if I am pregnant?

Absolutely!

Chiropractic care is a natural alternative to relieve the discomfort that many expectant mothers experience. Often the shifting of weight-bearing structures will result in low back pain, and chiropractic manipulation is a safe alternative especially when certain medications are out of the question.

How long will I need to come in?

The doctor will explain his recommendations for care to you.

There is no simple answer because every patient and every condition responds differently. If you have a physically demanding job or stressful lifestyle, you may need more treatments than someone who has a more sedentary lifestyle.

Some patients want simple pain relief and others want to treat the cause of their problem, and continue treatment until they have improved function and structural stability. Obviously the second option takes longer but when you consider the end results it is worth the time and effort.

In addition to your treatment in the office, we will suggest self management tools that will help you reach your optimum level of health. A chiropractic lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle. How long you choose to be a chiropractic patient is always up to you.
